While all the other stuff was going on with our lives I noticed my old dog Mr. Lucky had changes in his bark and breathing. I took him to the vet and initally she told me that his heart and lungs were clear but she would have to do a larngyoscope on him under anesthesea to find out the cause of the obstruction. This was done yesterday and he has enlarged tonsils and a semi paralized larynex. A condition that happens in older large dogs. They are giving him antibiotics for the tonsils and pred for the swelling. He will be able to function pretty good though. I just have to be aware of keeping him cool and not overdoing the walks he loves so much. There is a surgery that could be done but it has its risks and complications. Being that he is 12 years old I do not think he would have much to gain by this option. He had a hard time clearing the anesthesa from his system yesterday and I just can't put him through it again. Today he is back to normal and is "sulking" because I am not walking him today. It's too cold and dry to be out any longer than he needs to do his business(dont' you just wish that you could hold them over the potty on days like that?) Bella is out playing with her toys and can stay ofu a little longer but I keep an eye on her as well.

He's 12 already, I hate it when dogs get old and you know you're gonna loose them soon...Shadow is 9 gonna be 10 this year, where on earth does the time go?? Bella is adjusting well then? What does Mr. Lucky think of her - is she always trying to play with him, does he allow it, or does he ignore her when she rambunctious? I've been thinking of getting another smaller dog for Shadow to have someone to play with.
Right now we are battling a bout of runny bloody mucousie stools, she gets that now and again altough this time I dont' know what caused them. I am thinking of switching her to a raw diet, with all those darn recalls, I dont' know if I should wait until after this is over or do it now to control it...darn huskies...
