As you all know Donna was the US Representative to the Scandinavian Joint Action For Wolves below is the Tribute to Donna from them.
IN MEMORY OF DONNA BETTINGER
It was with deep sorrow we received the news that our point of contact in the United States Donna Bettinger, passed away the 26th of January 2005. Donna's engagement and dedication to the Norwegian wolves started in 2002 when a wild wolf was attracted to the wolves inside the fence of Langedrag Nature Park.
The local community was pressing for a solution that consequently meant that the wild wolf would be shot and Scandinavian JointAction for wolves started an international petition. The petition and the lone wolf's situation made a deep impression on Donna and she participated actively in the efforts to save the wolf.
We learnt quickly that her heart was beating strongly for animals and wildlife and she became our point of contact in the United States. Donna participated in global conservation by the use of a computer and telephone where she passed information between communities through her Wolf tracks newsletters.
Donna often referred to herself as "a concerned citizen" when addressing questions to newspapers and authorities. If the world had more "concerned citizens" as Donna, it would be much easier to take of it's beauty for future generations to enjoy. Donna's work is an inspiration for us all and we will deeply miss her. Our thoughts are with her family.
Above is the link to the page that Donna made, a memorial for a wolf named Sno, she used Sno as part of her email addy. Donna was very dedicated to the wolves and she posted wolf news in various wolf groups on the internet, she was a very valued member of the Wolf Community.
Donna was a very special friend to me and we would correspond almost daily. She had a way of cheering me up when I was down and had a knack of being able to say just the right thing to make me and many other people feel better with her sweet ways. She so enjoyed the pictures I sent her of myself with my friend's wolves, inside their enclosure and sitting with them. I always wanted to drive over to Delaware and bring her to Akron, Ohio, to my friends to see his wolves. Just goes to show that we need to do what we want when the time is at hand and not wait for one reason or another as it would have brought her untold joy to be able to be in the enclosure with the very ones she loved so dearly and worked for. I join the countless animals she helped in missing her very much. I know she is in a better place with her beloved wolves with Sno at her side eternally.
Love ya, Donna, my friend.
